Artsakh Rights Council: State-backed pressure aims to uproot our people

The Artsakh Armenians’ Rights Protection Council reports that hate speech targeting Artsakh Armenians has become routine both on social media and in daily life. Recently, this has escalated into direct pressure against individuals, originating from Armenian government circles, the Council states.

“The real goal of these actions is to compel Artsakh Armenians to leave their homeland and emigrate. But we declare unequivocally: the Rights Council’s position remains unchanged—we will not allow our compatriots to be forced from their homeland again,” the statement reads.

The Council cited threats made by Arsen Torosyan and the recent unlawful arrest of Artsakh National Assembly MP Davit Galstyan, who was advocating for the rights of Artsakh Armenians, as examples exposing the true nature and intent of the pressure campaign.

“These pressures will not break our resolve—they will only strengthen our unity and determination. Our struggle is only intensifying,” the Council declared.

They announced a rally scheduled for July 12 at 6:00 p.m. in Freedom Square. Regional visits and Council activities continue.

Law enforcement began searches at the homes of “Holy Struggle” supporters on June 25. The Investigative Committee claims the group planned terrorist acts and sought to seize power in Armenia. Later that day, movement leader Archbishop Bagrat was detained for two months. The Committee submitted 16 arrest motions, with nine approved and more rulings expected June 26.

On June 24, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan shared a civic.am article titled “The opposition's coup plan,” commenting: “This process will go down in history as the failed coup of traitors.”
