Saakashvili vows to unite Georgia and the entire Caucasus

During a remote court session, Georgia’s third president Mikheil Saakashvili stated, “I am capable of playing a decisive role in the unification of Georgia and the great unity of the Caucasus. I can do this thanks to my historical experience and my reputation.”

According to him, Georgia is entering a period of great revival.

“One should not wait for decisions from various political actors. I, of course, take upon myself my great, historical responsibility. I know that I can play a decisive role in the unification of Georgia and the great unity of the Caucasus. Thanks to my historical experience, my reputation—after all, I have very close relationships with almost all the leaders of the region. And those with whom I do not have close ties, like Pashinyan, are repeating the reforms we carried out, including our anti-corruption measures. I feel that I am capable of this—but only together with the Georgian people and all political forces. I take this responsibility upon myself, but I fully understand that strength lies in unity, and one person alone cannot cope. But of course, I will make every effort for us to begin moving in this direction as soon as possible. A united Caucasus, with a united Georgia as its axis, will soon become a player of immense geopolitical significance on the global stage. After the Rose Revolution, Georgia was already such a player. Then a counterrevolution occurred with the support of our enemies, and we were deprived of that status, but we will regain it—with the support of our friends, including the Ukrainians, where, as is known, I still head the Reform Council under President Zelensky. Also with the support of Europeans and Americans,” Saakashvili said.

He also noted that once the situation changes in Georgia, there will be stricter visa policies and property regulations regarding Russia.

“The time has come to create a Georgia that we have never seen in our history. We will surpass even what existed under David the Builder and Queen Tamar, because the situation has changed, there are new circumstances, a globalized world in which we will preserve our identity. We will free ourselves from this colonial misfortune. For example, today in Batumi you can hardly hear Georgian speech—everything is in Russian. As soon as the situation changes in Georgia, the visa regime with Russia will be tightened, and property relations will also be reviewed. We will not allow Georgia to be emptied of Georgians and populated instead by Chukchis, Moldovans, Bashkirs, Tatars, Muscovites, and others. Our country belongs to us,” Saakashvili said.
