Armenian, Iranian FMs address regional and multilateral cooperation

On July 1, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan held a phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

The two ministers discussed the latest regional developments. Mirzoyan expressed hope that the established ceasefire will be lasting and will provide a real opportunity for dialogue.

Mirzoyan and Araghchi also discussed issues related to cooperation within multilateral frameworks.

The conversation also touched upon cooperation between the two neighboring and friendly countries during times of crisis.

On the night of June 13, Israel launched military action against Iran, accusing it of advancing a secret military nuclear program, which, according to Tel Aviv, had reached a “point of no return.” Targets included nuclear facilities, senior generals, prominent nuclear physicists, airbases, air defense systems, and surface-to-surface missiles. Iran denied the presence of military components in its nuclear program and responded with missile strikes and attack drones. On the night of June 22, the U.S. struck Iranian nuclear sites. Iran later announced that it had evacuated all components. A ceasefire between Iran and Israel is now in place.
