MP Tigran Abrahamyan from the "I Have Honor" faction, during an extraordinary session of the National Assembly, addressed the motion submitted by Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan to initiate criminal proceedings against Artsvik Minasyan, a member of the "Armenia" faction. Abrahamyan stated that the government is following "a path of slandering, discrediting, or imprisoning political opponents."
He also noted that “in the perception of some MPs from the ruling Civil Contract party, discussions about the army constantly revolve around T-shirts, underwear, cheap fabric, and strawberries, which, of course, is indicative in terms of political diagnosis,” reports Panorama.am .
“In the absence of effective political tools, substantial discourse, and tangible results, the government resorts to propaganda attacks, slandering, discrediting, or imprisoning political opponents,” he said.
The National Assembly is debating whether to lift the parliamentary immunity of three opposition MPs. Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan’s motions target the head of the "Armenia" faction, Seyran Ohanyan, its secretary Artsvik Minasyan—against whom criminal prosecution and detention are being sought—and MP Artur Sargsyan, who also faces criminal charges and potential imprisonment.
