Prosecutor: defendants confirm voices in “terror case tapes”

Addressing a question from Armenia faction MP Artsvik Minasyan about whether voice identification has been conducted—specifically for Bagrat Galstanyan and Artur Sargsyan—Armenia’s Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan stated that none of the defendants have so far denied that the voices in the recordings are theirs.

"During hearings on arrest motions and in other stages of the proceedings, no argument has been made that the voice in the recordings is not theirs," Vardapetyan said, as reported by 1lurer.am .

She added that forensic examinations are being conducted within the framework of the investigation, including voice comparison analysis.

The Investigative Committee had previously released audio recordings obtained through covert investigative measures. These recordings pertain to the criminal case concerning alleged plans for terrorist actions and seizure of power by leaders and participants of the Sacred Struggle movement.

On the morning of June 25, law enforcement agencies began searches at the homes of supporters of the movement. The Investigative Committee stated that the group’s leaders and members had planned to carry out terrorist acts and seize power in Armenia. Later, it was announced that Archbishop Bagrat, the leader of the movement, was arrested for two months, along with 14 other individuals.
