NEW YORK AUTHORITIES RECOGNIZED FACT OF GREEK GENOCIDE IN OTTOMAN TURKEY
The authorities of New York State have officially recognized the fact of the Greek genocide in Ottoman Turkey. The decision to commemorate the Memorial Day of the Greek genocide May 19 annually was made. It should be reminded that since 1916, first the government of "Young Turks" and then the Cemal followers conducted the policy aiming at extirpation of Greeks. As a result, over 300000 Greeks were killed and 1.5 mln escape. The Greek community of Armenia as well as a number of parties raises the question on the necessity to recognize the fact of the Greek genocide in Ottoman Turkey. As it known, the Greek parliament recognized the 1915 Armenian genocide in 1996.
