Armenia has won its first-ever medal in the history of the Karate World Championships, according to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports.

At the 27th edition of the World Championships held in Cairo, Egypt, 21-year-old Armenian athlete Suren Harutyunyan secured a bronze medal in the 75 kg weight category.

He claimed victory over U.S. competitor Scott Thomas with a score of 2–0.
