Armenia, UAE to mutually recognize driver’s licenses

Armenia and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to mutually recognize and exchange driver’s licenses, according to a memorandum of understanding signed in Abu Dhabi on September 30. The Armenian government has approved the document, which now awaits ratification in the National Assembly.

The agreement regulates legal relations between the two countries regarding driving permits. According to the memorandum, both parties will recognize valid driver’s licenses issued to their citizens visiting for non-residency purposes, provided the license holders meet the minimum age requirements set by the agreement.

For those moving for residency, each country will exempt applicants from taking both theoretical and practical exams when exchanging their licenses.

The agreement will be submitted to Armenia’s Constitutional Court for legal review before being forwarded to parliament for ratification.
