Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with newly appointed Ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgholami before the latter’s departure to Yerevan, Armenpress reports, citing IRNA.

During the meeting, Araghchi stressed the importance of using all available opportunities to enhance cooperation between Iran and Armenia across various sectors.

Ambassador Shirgholami presented his initiatives aimed at expanding neighborly relations between the two countries on the basis of mutual respect.

In his remarks, Araghchi highlighted that Iran-Armenia relations are built on deep civilizational and historical foundations.

Before his appointment, Khalil Shirgholami served as Deputy Head of Iran’s Center for Political and International Studies, overseeing research and analysis.
