Computers were seized during a search at the Artsakh Representation Office in Yerevan, according to State Minister of Artsakh Nzhdeh Iskandaryan, who spoke to reporters about the incident.
“From the outset, it was obvious to us that this is connected to yesterday’s hearings. This is a message we are receiving from the current authorities. Our position is clear: the chapter of Artsakh cannot be closed without considering the views of 150,000 Armenians,” Iskandaryan stated, as reported by Pastinfo.
Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the opposition I Have Honor faction, also commented on the search, saying there are two key reasons behind it.
“First, yesterday the Artsakh parliament held hearings about potential paths for the return of displaced Artsakh Armenians. These were substantive discussions with broad participation, and clearly, the authorities would not tolerate such dialogue. The second reason is Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s recent statement equating the return of Artsakh Armenians to the concept of ‘Western Azerbaijan’—a fabricated and absurd narrative,” he said.
The MP claimed that the Armenian government is attempting to please Baku by showing it will not tolerate any initiatives aimed at enabling the return of Artsakh’s population.
According to Armenpress, the Investigative Committee of Armenia confirmed that investigative actions are being carried out at the building of the Artsakh representation in Armenia as part of a criminal case. No further details were provided.
More than 10 investigators have been conducting a search at the Artsakh mission office in Yerevan for several hours, according to the Investigative Committee.
