In a message titled "Our vision for the future is a strong Armenia," businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, currently in detention, stated that the 2026 elections will be decisive for the Armenian people and the future of the state.

“In just a few days, 2025 will end, and we’ll enter a fateful year in our nation’s history. It’s clear that the June 2026 parliamentary elections will have far-reaching consequences for Armenia’s future as a sovereign state. And the Armenian people themselves will decide what that future looks like.

You know that a small group and its leader are offering their own version of that future, centered on one thing: keeping Nikol in power. We’re given promises, rosy pictures, and video presentations, but in essence, it’s all about justifying a third term for someone who has failed repeatedly. What for? What achievement justifies it? No real expertise, no positive experience, no coherent strategy. The country is in debt, poverty has deepened, democracy has eroded, society is divided and filled with hatred, the Church is under threat, the Diaspora is isolated. And the list could go on.

However, pointing this out is not new. What matters more is offering an alternative, so our people have a clear choice and aren’t left alone against government propaganda. That’s the aim of this short piece: to present a vision of the future, built on a life of work, integrity, and results. It’s simple and can be summarized in 3–4 points.

First and foremost, our people are starved for justice, and we must fulfill that dream. The ruling group came to power promising justice and shamelessly deceived everyone. We will deliver on that promise.

Merit and competence—not wealth or connections—will determine one's place in government. Brave patriots will be encouraged and advanced, not pushed out. Young people will be given green lights. We will not empty the budget for personal gain, but invest it back, even from our own resources. We’ll use our decades-long business relationships with top global companies to enrich and develop the country. Armenia has many needs, and we’ve worked and earned precisely to meet them. The UAE once amazed the world with its development; now it’s our turn.

Second, Armenia must become a country of prosperity, where citizens live well in every sense. The Armenian people deserve that. Poverty must become a thing of the past. We’ll provide jobs and opportunities for all in need. No child should go hungry or lack clothes, no parent should struggle to pay for medicine. That is a matter of personal honor for me.

Development is impossible when much of society is drowning in debt—especially to banks. People take loans for basic needs, for homes, even to celebrate the New Year, then spiral into endless repayment. We won’t leave them alone. We’ll work with banks and lenders to find solutions. I see and know how to achieve this.

Third, Armenia must not have bad relations with any neighbor or major power. We’ll end the petty politics of resentment and flattery from the very day after the election. Cozying up to Azerbaijan and Turkey won’t bring real peace. Plotting against Russia won’t bring security. Ignoring Iran and Georgia’s vital interests won’t build real partnerships. We’ll return to solving issues through good relations. Nothing will be denied, but everything will be handled professionally and peacefully, in our favor.

Fourth, we must again become a united family. A country where everyone contributes to building a peaceful homeland. Once we remove the small ruling group, we must uproot hatred from Armenia. We must reflect as a nation on what we’ve lived through in recent years, seek internal understanding, and ask each other for forgiveness. Armenia must become the safest and most cherished home for Armenians everywhere.

This is my general vision for the future. There’s more to say, of course.

But I’ve shared the essentials, and now, when imagining the future, you’ll have at least two options. One is what we’ve lived under for seven years. The other is what you’ve just read.

The choice is yours. The future is coming no matter what. But we, Armenians, must make it truly ours, just, prosperous, peaceful, united, and strong,” the message concludes.

Samvel Karapetyan has also announced the start of forming a new political team. He emphasized that their emerging team will have its own approach, open to cooperation with allies but rejecting any politics that promotes societal division. He also noted that many professionals currently in government do not share its values but have yet to find a way out of the situation.
