The Armenian Ministry of Defense has denied a claim by Colonel Naira Gevorgyan of the Armed Forces Reserve, alleging an infiltration attempt by the adversary near a military unit in Meghri. The ministry's press secretary Aram Torosyan addressed the matter in a Facebook post.
“The statement by an individual known for, to say the least, an undistinguished service record in the Armed Forces, is not only misinformation but yet another failed attempt at a disinformation attack against the Republic of Armenia, its state institutions, and its army,” Torosyan wrote.
He urged media outlets to refrain from republishing such provocative claims and not to contribute to the creation of hybrid threats around Armenia.
“At the same time, we believe that the relevant authorities should examine this statement and consider the possibility of providing a legal assessment,” he added.
Gevorgyan had previously claimed that on December 7–8 there had been an attempted infiltration near the Meghri military unit, which was repelled by Armenian forces. She also claimed that a "do not fire" order had been issued by superior command, as reported by Sputnik Armenia.
