Speaking at a parliamentary briefing, MP Narek Ghahramanyan of the Civil Contract faction stated that the absence of gunfire on both sides of the Syunik border, even before August 8, speaks volumes about the positive impact of recent developments.
"According to my information, real estate prices in Meghri have risen by 50%. This is clear evidence of the impact of the August 8 agreement," he said, as reported by 1lurer.am .
Ghahramanyan also commented on shifts in public sentiment in the region, stressing that he regularly communicates with residents of Syunik and observes growing satisfaction with the current situation.
“Of course, people are pleased. Syunik has witnessed military activity since 1988, and there hasn’t been a year without casualties or gunfire on the border. Naturally, residents welcome the current calm. However, there are still shortcomings that need to be addressed,” he said.
In Washington, Armenian, Azerbaijani, and U.S. leaders—Nikol Pashinyan, Ilham Aliyev, and Donald Trump—officially agreed to launch the "Trump Route," allowing Azerbaijan access to Nakhichevan while fully respecting Armenia’s sovereignty.
“Armenia is entering into an exclusive partnership with the U.S. to develop this corridor, potentially extending up to 99 years, and even renewable for another 99. Major infrastructure projects are expected, and American companies are eager to invest, bringing economic benefits to all three countries,” Trump stated.
On September 11, Pashinyan stated that Armenia granted the U.S. a construction right, not land ownership or lease, for the corridor.
