On December 25, a meeting was held at the central office of the Hayakve national civic alliance between its leadership and representatives of the ARF (Armenian Revolutionary Federation) Supreme Body of Armenia.
In light of what they described as escalating repression in the country and the ruling regime’s unprecedented campaign against the Armenian Apostolic Church, the parties discussed coordination of efforts to defend Armenia’s constitutional order and protect citizens’ lawful rights.
The statement noted that European institutions have increasingly applied double standards and turned a blind eye to what they called blatant violations of democracy and human rights in Armenia, further encouraging the authorities to infringe on the rights of citizens and organizations defending national values.
It was agreed that discussions will continue and expand to include other national-minded civic and political groups, with the goal of preventing the establishment of dictatorship or its reproduction through unconstitutional means.
Parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled for June 2026.
