EU–Armenia visa dialogue shows steady progress

During the 2025 performance review of the Migration and Citizenship Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs presented updates on the EU-Armenia visa liberalization process.

Minister Arpine Sargsyan reported that, under the action plan provided by the European Union, Armenia has already fulfilled 7 benchmarks. Ten are currently in progress, while another 5 are in the initial implementation phase, Armenpress reports.

Armenia and the EU launched formal visa liberalization talks in September 2024. In November 2025, the European Union delivered an official action plan to Armenia, and the government has since been actively working on its implementation.

On December 2, 2025, during the sixth EU–Armenia Partnership Council meeting in Brussels, the two sides signed a strategic partnership agenda. The document was signed by Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.
