The National Assembly has voted in favor of discussing, under a special procedure, the proposal to terminate the mandate of Hakob Hakobyan, a member of the Television and Radio Commission. Seventy-four MPs voted in favor, none opposed, and two abstained.
Before the vote, Hayk Konjoryan, head of the Civil Contract faction in parliament, announced that their group would support the initiative, according to Armenpress.
The motion was introduced by the Hayastan faction, which argued that Hakob Hakobyan, also known as former Minister of Culture Hakob Movses, violated the principles of political neutrality and restraint required by the Constitution for members of the commission.
According to the draft, in an interview with First News, Hakob Movses made statements deemed offensive and defamatory toward the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) party.
