The construction of a motorsport circuit in Armenia with the support of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) will provide new momentum for the development of the sector, said Arayik Harutyunyan, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of Armenia, during a meeting with a delegation led by FIA Secretary General Valerio Iacizzi.
Harutyunyan underscored the importance of cooperation with the FIA in ensuring the advancement of motorsport in the country.
Valerio Iacizzi, in turn, highlighted Armenia’s potential and the achievements already recorded within the framework of the FIA’s “Affordable Cross Car” project aimed at creating a racing cross car. The initiative seeks to create an environment in which entry into motorsport is possible without major financial investments, relying on local production and minimal resources. Iacizzi noted that the program will enable Armenia to host its first regional crosscar series and lay the groundwork for organizing more prestigious championships in the future.
During the meeting, it was also emphasized that the Automobile Federation of Armenia, as an official FIA member, will support the implementation of the planned programs.
The sides discussed a number of other issues related to further cooperation.
Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan had earlier stated during a meeting with a delegation led by FIA Secretary General Valerio Lachizzi that the development of motorsport in Armenia could have not only sporting, but also educational and technological significance.
