U.S. President Donald Trump has said that Iran rejected U.S. proposals related to its nuclear program.
According to Trump, after strikes carried out against Iran, Washington warned Tehran not to resume attempts to develop nuclear weapons, but the latter did not accept any proposals, RIA Novosti reported.
“After that attack (following the 2025 ‘Midnight Hammer’ operation – ed.), we warned them never to resume their malicious attempts to create nuclear weapons, and we tried repeatedly to make a deal... They did not want to do it. They did not understand what was happening... They rejected every opportunity to abandon their nuclear ambitions,” Trump said in a video address.
Trump added that Iran attempted to rebuild its nuclear program and continued developing long-range missiles.
According to him, those missiles could threaten allies in Europe and U.S. troops stationed abroad.
“They tried to rebuild their nuclear program and continue developing long-range missiles that can now threaten many of our very good friends and allies in Europe, our troops deployed overseas and could soon reach American territory,” he said.
Meanwhile, Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi said after consultations with the United States in Geneva that Iran had agreed to reprocess its stockpiles of enriched uranium, Tsargrad reported.
“With regard to the current stockpiles (Iran’s enriched uranium – ed.), I believe that agreement has now been reached to reprocess them to the lowest possible level — to a neutral, natural state. That is, they will be converted into fuel, and that fuel cannot be returned to its previous condition,” the minister said in an interview with CBS.
U.S. President Donald Trump also called on representatives of Iran’s security forces to lay down their arms.
He stated that Iran’s security forces must abandon resistance, stressing that they should lay down their weapons or face death.
Israel, for its part, carried out a preventive strike against Iran “to neutralize the threat,” the country’s Defense Minister Israel Katz said. He also declared a nationwide state of emergency.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry said that “a missile and drone attack toward Israel is expected, potentially targeting civilians.” The command of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that Iran would carry out a retaliatory strike in the coming hours.
