Late on March 5, 104 Armenian citizens who had been participating in the Seaside Startup Summit in India, as well as members of a tourist group from Vardan Travel, departed Goa for Yerevan, Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan said on Facebook.
The aircraft has already landed at Zvartnots International Airport.
The Armenian embassy has also been contacted by 12 Armenian citizens in Sri Lanka and six citizens currently in Goa, who are mainly there for tourism or business purposes. Armenia’s embassy in New Delhi remains in daily contact with them and has suggested different routes for immediate departure.
The embassy also received inquiries from two Armenian citizens located in the Maldives, who were informed about available travel options.
Authorities have maintained contact with Armenian citizens who remained in accredited countries—primarily India and Sri Lanka—after flight cancellations caused by the escalation of tensions in the Middle East. Necessary information has been collected and options for their return to Armenia are being considered.
The embassy worked to obtain the required flight permissions, cooperating with India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Ministry of External Affairs.
The Armenian embassy in India—also accredited to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal—operated in an emergency режим.
