Embassies assist Armenians abroad amid tensions

Since the start of military actions, 41 Armenian citizens who were transiting through Qatar have contacted the Embassy of Armenia in Qatar, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan wrote on Facebook.

Of those citizens, 38 were traveling with Qatar Airways, and the airline provided them with all necessary accommodation and food.

Two of the citizens required medication, and the necessary assistance was provided by Armenia’s embassy in Doha.

On March 6, the embassy held a meeting with all Armenian citizens who were in Doha, during which their needs were assessed.

It was also noted that three additional Armenian citizens are currently in Qatar, and possible options for their return home are being considered.

At present, the Qatar Airways flight to Yerevan scheduled for March 9 remains included in the airline’s timetable.

In Vietnam, there are 12 Armenian citizens, according to Armenia’s embassy there, whose ambassador is also accredited to Laos, Cambodia, and the Philippines.

According to the information provided, four citizens will depart on March 7 on the Ho Chi Minh City–Guangzhou–Almaty–Tbilisi route and will then travel from Tbilisi to Yerevan by car.

Another seven citizens plan to return to Armenia on March 9 via the Ho Chi Minh City–Urumqi–Yerevan route, while one citizen is waiting for the opportunity to return to Bahrain.

Meanwhile, about two dozen Armenian citizens are currently in Israel, the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.

“On March 5, Israel’s Ministry of Tourism announced the possibility of organizing transportation for foreign citizens to the border crossing with Egypt. The embassy informed Armenian citizens who remained in Israel due to the hostilities about this initiative.

So far, four citizens have responded, stating that they prefer to remain in Israel and wait for the reopening of Ben Gurion Airport.

About ten Armenian citizens study in various universities and senior schools in Israel, and none of them has reported a desire to return to Armenia at this time,” the statement said.
