Armenia calls up new players for Belarus friendly

Armenia’s national team has announced its squad for a friendly against Belarus, featuring several first-time call-ups and new ticketing rules for fans.

Head coach Yeghishe Melikyan has unveiled the squad for the upcoming friendly match against Belarus, the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) press service reported.

Several players have received their first-ever call-ups to the national team: Sunderland U21 forward Finn Geragusian, Urartu goalkeeper Gor Matinyan, Pyunik player Karlen Hovhannisyan, BKMA midfielders Narek Hovhannisyan and Artur Askaryan, as well as 29-year-old Colombian defender Julio Bueno, who has played for Ararat-Armenia since 2021.

Goalkeepers: Henry Avagyan – Pyunik, Arsen Beglaryan – Alashkert, Arman Nersesyan – Ararat-Armenia, Gor Matinyan – Urartu.

Defenders: Kamo Hovhannisyan – Ararat-Armenia, Sergey Muradyan – Noah, Georgi Harutyunyan – Puskás Akadémia (Hungary), Artyom Bandikyan – CSKA (Russia), Nair Tiknizyan – Crvena Zvezda (Serbia), Edgar Grigoryan – Ararat-Armenia, Erik Piloyan – Urartu, Styopa Mkrtchyan – Nürnberg (Germany), Julio Bueno – Ararat-Armenia.

Midfielders: Eduard Spertsyan – Krasnodar (Russia), Karlen Hovhannisyan – Pyunik, Tigran Avanesyan – Orenburg (Russia), Artur Askaryan – BKMA Yerevan, Karen Nalbandyan – Alashkert, Gor Manvelyan – Noah.

Forwards: Vahan Bichakhchyan – Legia Warsaw (Poland), Hrant-Leon Ranos – Eintracht Braunschweig (Germany), Artur Serobyan – Ararat-Armenia, Narek Grigoryan – Farul (Romania), Narek Hovhannisyan – BKMA Yerevan, Finn Geragusian – Sunderland U21 (England), Karen Melkonyan – Urartu.

The Armenia vs Belarus match will take place on March 29 at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan, kicking off at 18:00.

Football fans can already purchase tickets for the Armenia–Belarus friendly exclusively through an online platform.

Online ticket sales have started for the match scheduled on March 29 at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan. The FFA stated that no physical ticket sales will be available.

“Starting today, tickets are available on the website. Tickets for this and all future matches of the Armenian national team will be sold only online; no physical sales will be organized.

Each person may purchase no more than four tickets for the Armenia–Belarus match. After purchase, users will see their tickets in their personal account on the website, but QR codes will be activated only on the day of the match. To buy tickets, identity verification via passport is required on the website.

After entering the required data for verification, users must wait for confirmation, which is processed daily between 10:00 and 20:00 within 30 minutes. For security reasons and to avoid congestion, fans are asked to arrive at the stadium at least two hours before the match,” the statement said.

Ticket prices are as follows:

South Stand – 1000 and 2000 AMD,

North Stand – 1000 and 2000 AMD,

East Stand – 3000 and 6000 AMD,

West Stand – 6000 and 8000 AMD.

The friendly match between Armenia and the UAE scheduled for March 26 has been canceled due to the tense and unstable situation in the Middle East.
