Construction work on the North–South transport corridor has not been suspended despite the war in Iran, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Davit Khudatyan said during a government Q&A session in parliament.
He noted that work carried out by an Iranian contractor on the Kajaran–Agarak section is proceeding in line with the approved schedule, Aysor.am reports.
“Our partners continue to deliver quality work. About 45% of the project has been completed. Excavation of two tunnels has been finished, and active construction is underway on 14 of the 15 bridges. This section of the road is planned to be commissioned by the end of 2027 or the beginning of 2028, depending on weather conditions,” the minister said.
On February 28, Israel and the U.S. carried out airstrikes on Iran, resulting in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran retaliated with strikes toward Israel and Persian Gulf countries hosting U.S. bases.
