Since February 28, 10 citizens have applied to the Armenian Embassy in Israel for assistance in returning to Armenia, of whom eight have already returned. This was announced on Facebook by Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan.
On March 25, eight citizens were transported by a special bus organized by the embassy to Egypt’s city of Sharm El-Sheikh, from where they continued their journey to Yerevan via a direct flight.
Two Armenian citizens stated that they would return to Armenia later, after fulfilling their contractual obligations.
“At the Israel–Egypt border crossing in Taba, Armenian citizens were welcomed by Armenia’s ambassador and consul in Egypt, who accompanied them to Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport and provided the necessary assistance. The citizens departed for Armenia on the morning of March 26 on the Sharm El-Sheikh–Yerevan flight,” the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.
On February 28, Israel and the U.S. carried out airstrikes on Iran, resulting in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran responded with strikes toward Israel and Persian Gulf countries hosting U.S. military bases.
