Wings of Unity аctivists report pressure in Armavir

Activists of the Wings of Unity political initiative say they have faced pressure in Armenia’s Armavir region, member Levon Chukaklyan told journalists during a briefing, according to Sputnik Armenia.

He said that after a meeting with volunteers in Armavir city, unidentified individuals circulated participants’ photos, sending them to their teachers and parents. In some cases, warnings were also issued.

According to the initiative, one minor reported being told by a teacher to withdraw from participation, while in another case threats were made against a parent employed in the public sector. Additionally, school principals reportedly held conversations with some participants, asking about them and their families.

Initiative representative Stepan Asryan stressed that participation of volunteers, including minors, was entirely voluntary and no coercion was applied.

Activists also reported similar incidents in Metsamor, where a property owner allegedly withdrew from a preliminary agreement to rent office space, citing various reasons.

Chukaklyan said the recorded incidents will be compiled into a separate report and submitted to international organizations.

The Wings of Unity initiative is led by former Human Rights Defender Armen Tatoyan and plans to participate in the June 7 parliamentary elections jointly with the Hayakve initiative.
