The Armenian National Congress (ANC) has announced that it will participate in the upcoming elections independently after failing to form an alliance with the Strong Armenia party.
“The Armenian National Congress made every necessary effort to form a broad alliance with Strong Armenia, led by Samvel Karapetyan, aimed at confronting the anti-national regime in the upcoming elections.
We demonstrated maximum flexibility, setting no preconditions for forming the alliance. For reasons beyond our control, the alliance did not materialize.
Therefore, the Armenian National Congress will take part in the elections independently, while remaining ready to cooperate with ‘Strong Armenia’ and other opposition forces both during the electoral period and after the elections, including forming a parliamentary coalition to address the threats facing the country,” the statement said.
Earlier, Armenia’s first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan stated that Samvel Karapetyan is “the only capable figure” able to unite the fragmented opposition, describing him as a “self-sufficient and established” political actor.
