Armenia to buy $25 mln AI computing power

Armenia’s government will acquire $25 million worth of high-performance artificial intelligence computing resources from Firebird AI for a five-year period.

The announcement was made on Facebook by Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, who said the resources will support startups, research teams, educational institutions, and individual specialists working in artificial intelligence.

“This program aims to support startups, research groups, educational institutions, and individual professionals engaged in artificial intelligence by providing high-performance computing resources for the design, training, and deployment of AI systems.

The computing resources will be provided through the Artificial Intelligence Virtual Institute (AIVI), launched by the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia as an open platform for innovation and collaboration. Within this strategic initiative, AIVI will serve as an operational platform for receiving applications, identifying applicants, and distributing computing resources, as well as a virtual space for communication and cooperation among AI innovators,” the minister wrote.

Firebird AI is being built in Hrazdan.

Leading banks and investment institutions have joined forces to provide $300 million in financing to Firebird AI for the construction of an AI factory in Hrazdan. The project is intended to implement a strategic memorandum signed in Washington on August 8, 2025.

The initiative aims to establish a modern artificial intelligence data center in Armenia based on advanced technological solutions from U.S. company NVIDIA.

The data center, being built through cooperation between Firebird, NVIDIA, Dell Technologies, and the Armenian government, is expected to become the most powerful in the region.
