The European Court of Human Rights has obliged Azerbaijan to provide copies or summaries of court verdicts concerning Armenian prisoners by August 31, according to the International and Comparative Law Center.
The statement noted that Azerbaijan has repeatedly appealed to the court seeking to lift interim measures requiring regular reports on the detention conditions and health status of Armenian prisoners held in the country, asserting that all processes are transparent and public.
On April 9, 2026, the ECHR rejected Azerbaijan’s latest request, again obliging the government to continue providing information on detainees’ conditions, as well as their latest medical records, examinations, and treatment documents.
The court also required Azerbaijan to submit copies or summaries of verdicts issued in criminal proceedings against Armenian detainees, including the reasoning of judges based on the evidence in each case.
The next deadline for submitting the report is August 31, 2026.
