Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said that Russian businesses are interested in participating in construction projects in territories described by Azerbaijan as “liberated,” speaking at the 24th session of the Azerbaijan–Russia intergovernmental commission, according to APA.
“We are encouraging Russian businesses to actively participate in the development projects being implemented here. In particular, the favorable investment environment created opens broad opportunities for such cooperation,” he said.
Overchuk also presented examples of successful activities by Russian businesses and regions in the area. According to him, important ties have been established between the city of Jabrayil and Saint Petersburg.
He added that within interregional cooperation, kindergartens are being built in villages of the Zangilan district with funding from Russia’s Astrakhan Oblast.
In September 2023, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale military offensive in Nagorno-Karabakh, leading to mass displacement of more than 100,000 Armenians to Armenia following a ceasefire agreement and the dissolution of local authorities.
