Karapetyan promises to revise, not cancel TRIPP

Strong Armenia party leader Samvel Karapetyan said that if his party comes to power, it will not suspend any agreements signed at the state level, including the TRIPP document.

Speaking during a press conference held at his residence, Karapetyan stated that the agreement had indeed been pre-signed, but stressed that his team would focus on improving existing arrangements rather than canceling them, reports Sputnik Armenia.

“TRIPP is indeed a pre-signed document. We are not going to halt any agreement signed at the state level. That does not mean we will follow everything decided by the current authorities. We are going to improve those documents,” he said.

According to Karapetyan, the peace agenda promoted by the current government in reality reflects Azerbaijan’s interests, while Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has already “brought peace” to Artsakh.

Pashinyan also commented during a briefing on why he refers to Karapetyan as a “Kaluga-based oligarch,” despite the businessman widely being known in Armenia as “Samvel from Tashir,” reports 1lurer.am .

“The person you mentioned could not have carried out even 10 percent of the investments made by the government in Tashir, and has not done so in recent years, because no individual can match state-level investments. It was the government that invested in Tashir and built schools there,” Pashinyan said.

He argued that certain individuals in Armenia attempt to associate specific territories with themselves through what he described as a feudal-style mentality.

“There are people in Armenia trying to link territories to themselves through feudal logic. Whatever investments they made, they stole ten times more, including through inflated electricity charges,” he said.

In this context, the prime minister referred to a court decision presented during the cabinet meeting under illegal asset confiscation proceedings, according to which a mansion belonging to a family member of one of the “three-headed war party” members has become state property.

“Did you see? Through the illegal property confiscation process, by decision of the Court of Cassation, the mansion of a family member tied to one of the members of the three-headed war party has become state property. Soon it will become either a nursing home or something else,” Pashinyan said.

He added that he opposes linking any Armenian territory to private individuals and vowed that the state would reclaim illegally acquired property “piece by piece.”

Regarding the term “Kaluga,” Pashinyan said he uses it because Karapetyan’s main interests are centered outside Armenia.

Parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled for June 7, 2026.
