Yerevan, Washington explore mining partnership

Armenia’s ambassador to the United States, Narek Mkrtchyan, and U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Textiles, Consumer Goods, Materials, Critical Minerals and Metals Joshua Croun discussed prospects for cooperation in critical mineral extraction, processing, and investment, emphasizing the sector’s strategic role in global supply chains, the Armenian Embassy reported.

The sides also addressed investment opportunities in the sector and potential cooperation with American companies.

They highlighted the strategic importance of critical minerals in global supply chains and stressed the need for continued development of cooperation in the field.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed in Washington a document on joint Armenia-U.S. work within the framework of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity initiative, known as TRIPP.

The published document on the implementation of TRIPP describes the operational framework for launching the initiative. The framework does not create and is not intended to create legal commitments or obligations for either Armenia or the United States.
