The government has approved a decision to begin the process of acquiring land for the construction of a planned highway between Isakov Avenue and Arshakunyats Avenue in Yerevan.
A total of 27 land plots will be purchased from private individuals and legal entities, Sputnik Armenia reports.
The planned roadway will extend from Yerevan’s Noragyugh district to the Shengavit district and will include a new bridge over the Hrazdan River, to be built near Yerevan Lake.
The new highway is expected to improve traffic flow from the Shengavit and Erebuni administrative districts toward the city’s northwestern areas, including Ajapnyak and Davtashen, as well as toward the Arabkir district.
An elite residential district is planned for construction in Noragyugh, an area adjacent to central Yerevan. The project also envisages relocating foreign diplomatic missions there alongside other facilities.
