
Based on measures carried out by officers of Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee and the National Security Service, information was obtained within the framework of a criminal proceeding indicating that a parliamentary candidate from the Strong Armenia alliance allegedly provided electoral bribes to several residents of Lori Province in exchange for voting in favor of the alliance in the National Assembly elections.
As part of the criminal proceedings initiated over the incident, several individuals have been detained.
The Anti-Corruption Committee stated that searches have been conducted and other procedural actions have been carried out within the framework of the investigation.
Regular elections to Armenia’s National Assembly have begun.
All 2,005 polling stations across the country opened at 8:00 a.m. The voter register includes 2,485,851 eligible voters. Polling stations will remain open until 8:00 p.m.
A total of 18 political forces are participating in the parliamentary elections: two party alliances and 16 individual parties. The electoral threshold is 4% for parties and 8% for alliances.
