Murder investigation launched over polling station stabbing

A criminal case has been launched over the stabbing that occurred on June 7 in the area adjacent to polling station No. 8/24 in Yerevan. Proceedings have been initiated under Article 155, Part 1 of Armenia’s Criminal Code (murder) and Article 297, Part 2, Clause 1 (hooliganism committed by a group of persons). Armenia’s Investigative Committee said that three individuals have been detained as part of the investigation, according to Factor.am .

On June 7, an altercation took place near polling station No. 8/24, during which a 27-year-old man was stabbed. He was taken to a medical center, where he later died.

Earlier, Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs Police reported that on June 7, the ministry’s 112 Operational Management Center received a call from a medical institution stating that at 7:55 p.m. a 27-year-old man with stab wounds had been brought in for treatment.

According to preliminary information, a dispute broke out among a group of individuals over the manner in which a vehicle was being driven. During the confrontation, one of the participants stabbed the 27-year-old man.

“As a result of measures carried out by police officers, it was also established that the suspected attacker is a 16-year-old resident of Yerevan. The individual suspected of the stabbing and other participants in the incident were identified and detained. Some time after the incident, the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ 112 Operational Management Center received a report that the 27-year-old man taken to the medical center had died,” the statement said.
