Arman Abovyan, a member and parliamentary candidate of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), stated that 120 votes were restored to the party after comparing results from four polling stations.
“The processes we are all witnessing are, to put it mildly, concerning,” he said, according to Panorama.am .
Abovyan noted that the absolute number of votes attributed to BHK on the Central Electoral Commission’s website fluctuated as polling-station data were published.
“I am not talking about percentages, but about absolute vote totals,” he emphasized, seeking to avoid differing interpretations.
According to Abovyan, the party requested recounts after discovering that, once the final preliminary figures were published on the CEC website, it appeared to be short of the electoral threshold by only a fraction of a percentage point.
“At this stage, I would prefer not to specify the exact number of polling stations involved, but I assure you it is not just one or two. We have data showing that, after comparisons at four polling stations, 120 votes were returned to us. We are currently working with the CEC. The fact is that even a preliminary review indicates that a significant number of votes cast in our favor did not reach us and were not counted,” Abovyan said.
He added that the party is now examining the reasons behind the discrepancies. In his view, political calculations could also be a factor, since the balance of forces in parliament would change significantly if BHK fails to enter the National Assembly.
Commenting on the broader electoral process, the opposition politician argued that unprecedented pressure had been exerted by the authorities throughout the campaign, including against BHK.
“We are not fighting for mandates. We have said from the beginning, and I reaffirm it now, that we will pursue every vote cast by our supporters. That is our primary focus,” Abovyan stated.
According to the preliminary results of the June 7 National Assembly elections, the vote distribution was as follows: Civil Contract — 49.825%, Strong Armenia — 23.281%, Armenia Alliance — 9.934%, and Prosperous Armenia — 3.996%. Under these updated figures, Prosperous Armenia does not surpass the 4% electoral threshold required for parliamentary representation.
