
The number of applications for Armenian citizenship submitted by persons forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh has increased since January 1. The announcement was made by Deputy Interior Minister Armen Mkrtchyan during a joint session of the National Assembly’s Standing Committees on Defense and Security Affairs and on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs.
“As of the beginning of June 2026, their number has reached 11,146,” he said, according to Sputnik Armenia.
The deputy minister also presented figures for 2025, noting that 39,650 forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh applied for Armenian citizenship during that year. Of those applicants, 27,296 were granted citizenship by decree of the President of Armenia.
According to data from Armenia’s Migration and Citizenship Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 115,365 people were forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh after September 2023.
