Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has announced that 17 Territorial Electoral Commissions have received a total of 30 applications submitted by authorized representatives and candidates of the Prosperous Armenia Party, the Unity Wings Party, and the Hayastan Alliance.
According to the statement, the applications request recounts of voting results from 555 precinct electoral commissions, Factor.am reported.
“The Territorial Electoral Commissions, during their sessions convened at 12:00 p.m., will summarize the received applications. Information regarding which Territorial Electoral Commissions will conduct recounts will then be published on the CEC website,” the statement said.
According to the CEC, 21 of Armenia’s 38 Territorial Electoral Commissions did not receive any applications requesting recounts.
The commission also noted that the recount process is being organized at the premises of the Territorial Electoral Commissions, is being broadcast live, and is open to individuals who have the right to attend such sessions.
Those eligible include accredited media representatives, members of observation missions, authorized representatives of participating parties and alliances, proxies, candidates, and other authorized persons, provided they present CEC-issued credentials and identification documents.
The Central Electoral Commission further stated that no applications had been submitted to Territorial Electoral Commissions seeking to invalidate voting results at any polling station.
According to preliminary election results, the vote distribution was as follows: Civil Contract – 49.825%, Strong Armenia – 23.281%, Hayastan Alliance – 9.934%, Prosperous Armenia – 3.996%. Under the updated figures, Prosperous Armenia has not cleared the 4% threshold required for political parties, although the party has requested recounts at a number of polling stations.
