Rubinyan urges opposition to skip parliament

“It would be better if the opposition did not come to parliament,” National Assembly Vice Speaker Ruben Rubinyan said on Public Television while commenting on the opposition’s debate over whether to take up parliamentary mandates.

“We would only be happy. I call on them not to come to parliament; I call on the opposition not to take the mandates. If they think we are sitting around dreaming about when they will come, they are mistaken. It would be better for us, it would be better for everyone,” he said, according to Auroranews.am.

Rubinyan added that the public clearly accepts that the elections were fair, free and transparent for one simple reason: it was the people who made the decision and it was the people who cast their votes.

“The only way to improve the health of our political field is for the three-headed war party to finally bear responsibility,” he said.

According to preliminary data, votes in the elections were distributed as follows: Civil Contract — 49.825 percent, Strong Armenia — 23.281 percent, Armenia Alliance — 9.934 percent, Prosperous Armenia — 3.996 percent. Updated figures indicate that the Prosperous Armenia Party has not passed the electoral threshold, which is 4 percent for parties. The party has requested recounts in several polling stations.
