Three jailed in vote-buying investigation

Of the four individuals detained the previous day in connection with a criminal investigation into alleged vote-buying and vote-selling, three have been placed in pre-trial detention, while one has been placed under house arrest, Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee said, according to Factor.am .

The Committee had announced earlier that a parliamentary candidate from the Prosperous Armenia Party, together with supporters of the same political force and other individuals, allegedly provided bribes to several residents of Armenia’s Vayots Dzor Province in exchange for voting for the party in the National Assembly elections.

According to the statement, supporters of the party also allegedly offered material incentives to several residents of the province to participate in a rally organized by the party in Yerevan on June 4, 2026.

The four individuals were detained in connection with newly identified cases involving the alleged giving and receiving of election bribes.

According to preliminary results, votes were distributed as follows: Civil Contract — 49.825 percent, Strong Armenia — 23.281 percent, Armenia Alliance — 9.934 percent, and Prosperous Armenia — 3.996 percent. Updated figures indicate that Prosperous Armenia remains below the 4 percent threshold required for parties to enter parliament and has requested recounts at several polling stations.

Late on June 11, the Central Electoral Commission invalidated the voting results at polling stations No. 10/51 and No. 35/65. As a result, Prosperous Armenia lost a total of 213 votes, reducing its chances of surpassing the 4 percent threshold needed for parliamentary representation.
