Manukyan calls actions political persecution

Aregnaz Manukyan, a board member of the Mother Armenia party and a parliamentary candidate from the Prosperous Armenia party, does not have the status of a criminal defendant. She stated this after leaving Armenia’s Investigative Committee, Sputnik Armenia reports.

Earlier, it became known that law enforcement officers had conducted a search of Manukyan’s apartment, after which she was summoned for questioning at the Investigative Committee.

“After the overnight theft of votes, it was natural that such a show would be staged to divert attention from the issue. They did not receive the votes they desired and are doing everything possible to unlawfully push Prosperous Armenia out of the electoral process and deprive it of the right to enter parliament. The search conducted in our apartment was illegal because I am a Prosperous Armenia parliamentary candidate, and therefore permission from the Central Electoral Commission should have been obtained,” Manukyan said.

According to her, law enforcement officers seized her mobile phone, while she signed a commitment not to disclose information covered by investigative secrecy.

Manukyan said only that the actions were being carried out within the framework of a case already known to the public. She described the developments surrounding her as political persecution.

According to circulating reports, Aregnaz Manukyan’s name has been linked to the case involving Andranik Tevanyan. Those reports claim that she is suspected of passing information from a closed session of the National Assembly to Andranik Tevanyan in April 2024.
