Aliyev says TRIPP will link Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan

TRIPP will provide uninterrupted communication between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated in a congratulatory message sent to U.S. President Donald Trump on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

“We view the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project, which will ensure unrestricted communication between the main territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan and become part of the Middle Corridor, as another contribution to the development of lasting peace and cooperation in the region,” Aliyev said, according to APA.

He also addressed the peace agenda in the South Caucasus.

“We are also grateful to you for your determination in advancing the peace agenda in the South Caucasus. The signing of the trilateral joint declaration in Washington in your presence, as well as the initialing of the agreement on peace and the establishment of interstate relations with Armenia, are the result of your consistent efforts in the field of peacebuilding,” Aliyev’s message said.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio signed a number of documents at Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport. A framework agreement on strategic cooperation concerning the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” project between Armenia and the United States was initialed, while a comprehensive strategic partnership charter between Armenia and the United States was formally signed.
