
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed the situation in the South Caucasus during talks in Moscow.
“We discussed in detail the situation in the South Caucasus. We also discussed the peace process underway between Azerbaijan and Armenia. This is a very important factor for peace in the region,” Fidan said.
The meeting took place during Fidan’s visit to Russia and included exchanges on regional issues and ongoing diplomatic developments.
On August 8, during a trilateral meeting at the White House involving Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, a joint declaration was signed on the outcomes of the Washington talks.
In Washington, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov initialed the “Agreement on Peace and the Establishment of Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan” in the presence of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and the United States.
