Pashinyan to raise export issues at EAEU meeting

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will participate in the upcoming meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union’s intergovernmental commission. He announced this after a government meeting while responding to journalists’ questions.

Pashinyan said he intends to raise issues related to exports to Russia, according to Sputnik Armenia.

“I will participate in that meeting and, as I have said, we will deal with these issues. In fact, we are already working on them today; the EAEU institutions are operating,” the prime minister said.

According to him, these are routine, ongoing processes in which the Armenian authorities will continue to take part.

The next meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council is scheduled for August 15, 2026, in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.

During the cabinet meeting, Pashinyan also stated that he would continue working to resolve problems that have emerged within the EAEU. He called on businesses to remain calm and adapt to new markets, according to Aysor.am.

He noted that the government does not see an opportunity to provide support for products that do not meet the established standards.

According to the prime minister, from June 1 to June 17 Armenia exported 411 tonnes of greenhouse vegetables and strawberries, about 1.8 million flowers, and 17 tonnes of flowers.

The exported products were supplied to Georgia, Uzbekistan, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Latvia and other countries.

Russia has imposed restrictions on the import of several Armenian products. In particular, imports of Jermuk mineral water, flowers and certain alcoholic beverages from Armenia have been banned. Restrictions have also been applied to a number of agricultural products, including tomatoes, cucumbers and strawberries.

Since June 2, Russia has restricted the import and transit through EAEU countries of cherries, apricots, peaches, plums, grapes and other stone fruits originating from Armenia. Since June 3, Russia has also restricted imports of eggplants, potatoes and dried fruits exported from Armenia.
