Armenia’s National Assembly has approved legislation introducing a new support mechanism for drivers who have been deprived of their driving privileges due to traffic violations.

For the first time, drivers who have lost their licenses will be allowed to restore them without taking qualification exams. To do so, they must pay a state fee of 50,000 drams and complete a one-year probation period, Auroranews.am reported.

During the probation period, drivers will be allocated six penalty points.

If those penalty points are not exhausted during the probation year, the driver will receive 13 penalty points in the following year.

The legislation also stipulates that a driver who loses the right to drive for a second time will no longer be eligible to restore the license without passing the required examinations.
