Strong Armenia files 84-page Constitutional Court appeal

The Strong Armenia party has submitted an extensive 84-page application to the Constitutional Court seeking to invalidate the results of the June 7 National Assembly elections, party representative Aram Vardevanyan told reporters.

“We genuinely believe that the results of these elections should be declared invalid. We are particularly emphasizing two options: either the scheduling of a second round or the invalidation of the election results,” he said, according to Aysor.am.

The application will be examined by the Constitutional Court under an oral procedure.

Vardevanyan stated that he sees no legal basis for allegations that opposition forces distributed election bribes.

The Strong Armenia representative also argued that there are judges on the Constitutional Court whose participation in reviewing the application cannot be considered acceptable. He did not identify the judges in question but said a motion would be submitted requesting that they not take part in the proceedings.
