G8 Foreign Ministers call for peaceful settlement of NKR conflict
During the summit in Trieste, Foreign Ministers from the Group of Eight industrialized nations issued a statement, calling on conflicting parties for peaceful settlement of NKR conflict.
"We expressed our commitment for achieving regional stabilization. We state our support to efforts carried out to that effect with the active involvement of the UN, the OSCE and the EU. We encourage all actors in the region to work towards the peaceful settlement of unresolved conflicts and to support humanitarian aid programs.
We strongly encourage the development of regional cooperation. In this framework, we welcome the efforts of Armenia and Turkey to normalize their relations and the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs to seek a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The Caucasus region has the potential to become an area of peace and prosperity for all populations," G8 Foreign Ministers' statement said.
