Yerevan plans to purchase electric buses for the city, Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced during a session of the Yerevan Council of Elders. He added that the issue is currently being discussed within the agenda of the government’s investment committee.
“Our long-term strategy is that Yerevan should transition entirely to electric public transport,” Avinyan said, according to Aysor.am .
He noted that the city is considering purchasing 12-meter electric buses instead of 18-meter buses.
“We will complete our analysis in the near future. Going forward, Yerevan will neither purchase nor operate any type of public transport other than electric transport,” he said.
As of June 3, no old trolleybuses remain in operation in Yerevan. A fleet of 45 new trolleybuses has entered service, operating on existing routes with several modified terminal stops.
