Avetik Chalabyan, coordinator of the Hayakve civic initiative and a public and political figure, was detained early on June 24.

The Investigative Committee said the detention was carried out within the framework of a criminal proceeding currently under investigation by the agency, Panorama.am reported.

The committee added that it will issue an official statement later.

In April, the Strong Armenia Party and the Hayakve initiative signed a memorandum of cooperation to unite efforts aimed at removing the current administration and forming a new national government through the June 7 elections.
