Aram Vardevanyan, a parliamentary candidate on the Strong Armenia party list, stated that the Constitutional Court could indeed declare the Central Election Commission's decision invalid, presenting the legal grounds for his position.
He argued that the constitutional requirement had not been fulfilled and that the June 7 elections were neither free nor fair, adding that before applying to the Constitutional Court, his team had already presented its arguments to the Central Election Commission.
"We witnessed abuse of administrative resources, the spread of hate speech, political persecution, the use of criminal justice mechanisms as an administrative resource, nearly 100,000 votes that were not subject to any oversight mechanism... These elections are 'remarkable' because from February 7 to June 7, and then from June 7 to June 14, we saw organized and systematic electoral violations on a mass scale," he said.
At the same time, Vardevanyan argued that the current composition of the Constitutional Court faces serious concerns regarding impartiality.
In a message accompanying the video, Vardevanyan wrote: "The Constitutional Court's hearings on election-related appeals filed by us and other political forces begin on June 26. Given the record level of political persecution in Armenia, it is necessary to remind everyone that the rule of law cannot be diminished. The law must prevail. Freedom for all political prisoners."
He also thanked and emphasized the support of all citizens who voted for his political force.
The Strong Armenia party has called on its supporters to gather outside the Constitutional Court on July 26 to defend their votes. The appeal was made in a video message by the party's lead electoral candidate, Narek Karapetyan, who urged supporters to assemble at 1:00 p.m.
