Armenia rules out TRIPP talks with Russia

At this stage, Armenia is not discussing Russian involvement in the implementation of the TRIPP project, Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan said during a briefing with reporters.

Asked whether Moscow's participation could be considered in the future, Safaryan said he did not want to speculate, Factor.am reported.

He noted that Armenia remains a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), meaning transit procedures under the project will be carried out in accordance with the bloc's existing regulations.

"EAEU customs regulations are implemented by our customs authorities, so we do not see any issue there," he said, adding that no problems with Russia have arisen on that matter so far.

Responding to a question about whether Russia raises the issue of participating in the TRIPP project during bilateral meetings, Safaryan said the matter is not currently part of the Armenia-Russia bilateral agenda.

The deputy foreign minister also said practical work on the project is continuing and that the signed agreements will be submitted for ratification. However, no timetable has yet been set for the start of railway or other infrastructure works, and there is currently no specific completion schedule for the project.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio signed several documents at Yerevan's Zvartnots International Airport. The sides initialed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity project and signed a comprehensive strategic partnership charter between Armenia and the United States.
