Paliament committee backs state flag initiative

A parliamentary committee has approved legislation requiring the installation of the state flag at the main entrances to all settlements. The proposal establishes a uniform procedure for displaying the national flag.

Presenting the bill, MP Alkhas Ghazaryan said there is currently no legal framework regulating the placement of the state flag in Armenia's settlements and communities, according to 1lurer.am .

The draft legislation was co-authored by Ghazaryan and National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan.

During the discussion, lawmakers asked about the general rules governing the use of the state flag and the principles for selecting locations for its installation in settlements. The lead sponsor provided the necessary clarifications.

The accompanying report was presented by Anush Khloyan, a member of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, who gave a positive assessment of the legislative initiative.

Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Arnak Avetisyan presented the government's supportive position, noting that the government's proposals had been accepted by the bill's co-authors.

Following the discussion, the committee approved the revised version of the draft law and issued a positive opinion.
